
Marie Broaddus Obituary
Marie Green Broaddus, 93, of Garrard County, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Harrodsburg Health & Rehab Center in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
Marie was born on March 20, 1933, in Boyle County to the late Virgil and Grace Green. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Broaddus.
A faithful farmer’s wife, Marie devoted her life to raising tobacco and hay and helping operate the family dairy farm. She was an accomplished horsewoman who excelled in riding, training, and competition, earning numerous blue ribbons throughout the years. She was the oldest member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Kentucky Walking Horse Association. Marie was a devoted Christian who dearly loved her church, Pleasant Grove Christian Church. Above all, she was a loving wife and a dedicated mother.
She is survived by her son, Randall “Randy” Broaddus of Lancaster; her namesake and niece, Amber Nona Marie Followell of Harrodsburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to her husband, Marie was preceded in death by her brother, Virgil “A.J.” Green (Martha); and her sisters, Mary Elizabeth Green Satterly and Nona May Green Elam.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Spurlin Funeral Home, with Bro. Fred Willett officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Burgin Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the funeral home
Pallbearers will be Milton Hammonds, Scotty Hammonds, Eddie Sharp, Mike Sharp, Tony Bailey, and Lee Woods.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Hammonds, Keith Brown, Bobby Dietrich, Clinton Day, and Robert Brown.
