Ronnie Corey Obituary

Mr. Ronnie Lee Corey, 67, of Gray, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at his home.  He was the son of the late John Harry and Opal Cobb Corey born on November 3, 1950 at Fount.

Ronnie was the owner of Five C Construction Co., a member of the Artemus First Baptist Church and the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders Association.  He enjoyed collecting antique cars, farming and was an avid deer hunter.  Ronnie faithfully served his country as a member of the Kentucky Army National Guard.

On December 26, 1969, he united in marriage with Brenda Abner and to this union three children were born.

Survivors include his loving wife, Brenda Corey of Gray; three children, Gina Smith and husband, Mike, of Gray, Rhonda Hogan and husband, Grant, of Suwanee, GA and Casey John Corey of Boyton Beach, FL; a sister, Helen Gambrel and husband, Grover, of Girdler; three grandchildren, Cory Michael Smith and wife, Whitney, Kate Elise Hogan and David Grant Hogan; a great grandson, Hudson Smith; an uncle, Bill Corey and wife, Axie, of Turkey Creek; among other loved ones an dear friends.

His funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Monday, April 2 at 11 A.M. with Rev. Shane Nickell and Mike Corey officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the Barbourville Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Mike Blevins, Dexter Carnes, Bob Corey, Jeff Corey, Jamie Jones, Shawn Mattingly, Mike Owens and Todd Owens.  Honorary bearers will be Burchell Belvins, Neil Watkins, James McGee, Dr. Tom Ashburn, Martin Cox, Ryan Blackburn, Chad Renner, Dale Smith, Junior Mills, Kenny Smith, Jason Smith, Paul Wesley, Dale Marion, Mike Cornett, David Hood, Rick Reeves, the employees of Cumberland Valley Electric and Cottonwood Farm.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 5 and 9 P.M. and Monday prior to the funeral hour.
