Everett Rayburn passed away on September 18, 2018 at the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice Care Center. He was born on November 8, 1943 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Farris and Helen Bobst Rayburn. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Etta Louise McGinnis, and two brothers, Melvin and Chester Rayburn. He is survived by a son, Mark Rayburn of Portsmouth, OH, longtime companion, Greta Potter of Mt. Sterling, one sister, Phyllis Crawford of Portsmouth, OH, four brothers, Ronald of Centerburg, OH, Robert of Worthington, OH, Kenneth of Portsmouth, OH and Darrell of Sanford, NC and several nieces and nephews.
Everett was a long time farrier in the Winchester-Lexington area. He learned his trade from his grandfather who was a blacksmith for many hears. He was also a journeyman bricklayer in his younger years.
There is a memorial service planned for September 29 at the Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals in Mt. Sterling, KY. Visitation hours are 1 pm to 3 pm with a memorial service at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Everett’s honor at Bluegrass Care Navigators, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
