            Auston Humes, 74, of Berea, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Compassionate Care Center.
            He was born in Madison County on February 9, 1940 to Irving and Edna Lowery Humes.  He retired from the Square D Company in Lexington and also worked as a farmer.  He loved four wheeling and fishing. He also raised and showed Tennessee Walking Horses.  He was a member of the Speedwell Christian Church. 
            On August 27, 1963, Mr. Humes united in marriage to Dorothy Ross Humes who survives, having enjoyed 50 years of marriage.
            He is also survived by: his daughter: Denise (Steve) Calhoun of Waco; his granddaughter: Paige Smith (Chris Saylor) and two step grandchildren: Justin and McKenzie Calhoun.
            In addition to his parents, Mr. Humes was preceded in death by three brothers: Bobby Humes, Vernon Ray Young and Nelson Young.
            Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Paisley and Bro. Darrell Estes officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster, Kentucky.
            Visitation will be from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
            Pallbearers will be Mike Prater, Tom Rawlings, David Bullock, Donald Stamper, Kevin Hall and Jeremy Powell.
