Bobby LeCompt Obituary

The KWHA sends their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Bobby LeCompt

Bobby Gene LeCompt, 60, of Franklin, TN tragically died in a car accident on Monday, July 8, 2024. Known by his nickname “Tater” to so many friends and co-workers, Bobby was the son of William Carroll and Frances LeCompte. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his brother William Carroll LeCompte Jr., and his sister Betty Ann Duvall.

Bobby was born and raised with his 9 siblings in Bagdad, KY. He graduated from Shelby County High School and received his BS in Agriculture from Morehead State University in Morehead, KY. While working at Morehead State University, Bobby met his wife, Erin Siegel. Erin and Bobby were married on December 7, 2002 and started their family which included two children, Tucker and Rylee, many black Labradors, and lots and lots of horses. Bobby then became a USDA Livestock Inspector for the State of Kentucky. Throughout his career, Bobby managed several small and large-sized Equine facilities.

Bobby was a very active member of the Walking Horse community as he bred several show horses. And he loved to share his passion for all sports including one of his favorite’s – baseball. Bobby helped to coach several youth baseball teams in Springhill and Franklin, TN while cheering on his most favorite players, Tucker and Rylee. Bobby’s greatest passion was raising and training horses. He and his wife, Erin, founded Silent Run Farm – a very successful Hunter/Jumper Barn minutes from Leiper’s Fork, TN.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Erin, and their two children, Tucker and Rylee. He is also survived by siblings Joyce Brown, Brenda Lois Reynolds, Janet O’Nan, Ronnie LeCompte Sr., Marty Shouse, Cheryl Smith, and Bonnie LeCompte, and a sizeable extended family.

A memorial service will occur in late July. Arrangements will be provided by Shannon Funeral Service of Shelbyville, KY.
