Chad Baucom

The KWHA extends their deepest sympathy to the Chad Baucom family on his sudden passing.  The horse industry lost a great horseman and the world lost a great man.  Complete arrangements can be found below:

Chad Edwin Baucom, 49 of Monroe, NC went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 30, 2016.

Chad was born on March 11, 1967 in Mecklenburg County to Wadene Baucom and the late Brice Edwin Baucom.

He took over the family business, Baucom Stables, and spent his entire life training and showing Tennessee Walking Horses. Chad was a member at Covenant Baptist Church of Monroe.

Before he passed, Chad was at his barn, surrounded by friends, family, horses, everything he loved. Chad has been described as a legend in the Walking Horse Industry, a hero by others. Not only was he a master horseman, Chad was a loving husband, father and family man. He was a generous friend, a listening ear, a friendly smile. A man devoted to God and his witness.

Chad has had many horse related successes, including the 2011 National Trainer of the Year, the 2012 North Carolina Trainer of the Year, and the 2012 World Grand Champion. His major points of pride were the successes achieved by his amateur and youth competitors. Chad has been admired by the entire Walking horse industry for the relationships he has built with his amateur and youth riders. The love and passion received by all those who met Chad will live on forever.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 2, 2017 at Unionville Baptist Church, 510 Baucom Road, Monroe, NC 28110. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm officiated by Pastor Hank Parker and Pastor Rile Baucom. Burial will be at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery at 4695 Mt. Pleasant Road, Concord, NC 28025.

Survivors include wife, Rhonda Kay Baucom of the home; mother, Wadene Baucom of Monroe; daughter, Kayla Baucom; son, Tyler Baucom; stepson, Blake Hull and wife, Elizabeth; special granddaughter, Jordyn; and Jeanette Baucom, mother of Tyler and Kayla.
