The KWHA sends their deepest sympathy to the family and friends Charlie Howard. Even though the past several years of his life was spent in Tennessee, he was still a Kentuckian to so many, being originally from Mousey, Ky. Charles Burton Howard, age 68, passed away November 5, 2019 at Vanderbilt. He was born in Lackey, Kentucky and was a resident of Rutherford County. He taught school in Hindman High School, Hindman, KY, Lebanon High School, and Blackman High School. Charles was an avid walking horse enthusiast. He started coming to Murfreesboro in 1970 and attended the International and the Celebration until his recent illness.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Burton and Georgia Turner Howard. He is survived by his brothers, Jerome Paul Howard, Ralph Gordon Howard, Earl Thomas Howard; sister, Suette Howard King; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved walking horse, Mercedes..
