Eddie Ray Davis Obituary

Eddie Ray Davis was a KWHA Board of Director, served as President of the KWHA, held a Judges license for the KY HIO and RHBAA, and maintained the position of KY HIO DQP Coordinator during some of his active years with the horse industry.  Although he had not been active for the past few years due to health conditions, he maintained his love for the walking horse and his horse show family through phone calls to keep up  with what was going on with his passion for the horse industry.  The KWHA sends their deepest sympathy to his family and friends during the loss of such a great promoter of the Show Horse.  Complete arrangement follows:

Eddie Ray Davis, 68, loving husband of Donna Sponcil Davis for 48 years, father of Jason, wife Shari, and Poppy of Nathan Davis entered into eternal rest on Sunday Sept. 9.  He was a native of Lexington, but a life long resident of Jessamine County born May 5, 1950, to the late Ray and Esther Hager Davis.   Eddie Ray loved horses and was a member of the Kentucky Walking Horse Association and the American Hackney Association,  a farmer, and was happiest when swapping  and trading “working a deal”.  He was a former employee of the City of Nicholasville Planning and Zoning.  He and Donna attended Roberts Chapel United Methodist.  A Remembrance Service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, Sept. 14, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home with Adam Moss and Bryan Hester officiating. He will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery.  Honoring him as pallbearers will be Adam Moss, Scott Bowman, Will Moss, Rodney Moss, Bill Floyd, Jonathan Smith, Billy Teater, Bryan Hester, and Nathan Davis.  Honorary bearers will be his Hardee’s friends.  The Davis family will greet friends on Wednesday, Sept. 13, starting at 4:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM.  A special thanks to the East Jag football family for their love and support.  Donations may be made in his memory to the Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church.  Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville, KY  is honored to serve the Davis family. “Grief is the last act of love we have to give to those we loved.  Where there is deep grief, there was great love”.
