Johnny Jackson Complete Obituary

John C. Jackson

February 24, 1951-June 22, 2014

Tennessee Walking Horse trainer, John Jackson, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 22nd 2014.  He was the son of the late William and Mabel Jackson.  For over thirty years he and his wife Anne operated Jackson Stables in Frankfort, Kentucky.

John’s passion for horses began at an early age with his first pony “Dusty.”  His family later developed a love for the Tennessee Walking Horse breed, and the rest is history.  The family’s first major purchase was Bay Midnight W. in the 1960’s.  Around the same time, John began showing his pony Sun’s Mr. B.  The 1970’s were spent training his amateur owned and trained mount, The Pleasure Seeker among many others.

John would turn his love of horses into a profession shortly after.  He loved working with amateur riders and had a great relationship with his customers.

John found great success working plantation/park pleasure horses.   More recently John had been associated with such horses as, rwc Flashin Cash, White on White’s JFK, Red Satin Doll, Generator’s Bright Star, and Wicked’s Whassup to name a few.

He was very active in the walking horse industry, especially in Kentucky.  He was a founding member the Kentucky Walking and Racking Horse Trainers Association.  He served on the Kentucky Walking Horse Association Board of Directors for over 20 years.  He was also a former president of the KY-HIO.

John was preceded in death by his parents William and Mabel Jackson and son Brandon Mahoney.

He leaves behind a huge family, many of which are active in the walking horse industry today.

Services will be located at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Visitation services will be Wednesday from 5-8 pm. An affirmation of life service will be held that evening at 7:30.
