David Lane Cook Sr., of North Middletown, KY and formerly of Matewan, WV was born on September 11, 1947 in Matewan, WV, a son of the late Randolf Lane Cook and Eva Mae Bates Cook, departed this life on Saturday evening December 18, 2021 while an inpatient in the Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center of Prestonsburg, KY. David was 74 years old. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Margaret Casey, Brother-in-law George Casey and Michael Henderson whom he thought of like a son

David was a veteran having served in the United States Army from 1968-1970 during the Vietnam Era. An entrepreneur, David operated Cook Trucking for approximately 50 years. David was notoriously known for his bigger than life personality. When not busy with his business he had a passion for training and showing horses. Another interest that David enjoyed was drag racing. He was active during his tenure in the Matewan, WV community from his involvement in the Matewan boxing club to his investments in the lives of numerous children, David has indeed left an impact that will not soon be forgotten.

David is survived by his wife Udella Blackburn Cook of North Middletown, KY; son David L. “Dadoo” Cook Jr. and his wife Ruth Marie of Belfry, KY; daughters Wendy Lane Cook of Belfry, KY; grandchildren Mason Washington of Belfry, KY and Ranzee Cook of Belfry, KY.

David is also survived by his special friends Charlie Paterino, Ronald “Grady” Linville and Albert Allen whom he thought of as a brother 

The family will begin receiving friends on Thursday December 23, 2021 in the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Honoring services for David will be conducted on Thursday December 23, 2021 in the Chambers Funeral Services Chapel Beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Fred Taylor and Elder Thomas Moore officiating burial will then follow in the Pinson Cemetery of Buskirk, KY with pallbearers Charlie Paterino, Bill Pruitt, Lee Looney, Tommy Caudill, Timmy Fields, Keith Blackburn, Dean Blackburn and Special Nephews Randy Casey and Andy Casey. Honorary Pallbearers: Roger Light (hog) whom he thought of like a brother, Kenneth and Edith Henderson, Willow Chafin, Peppy Lester, Ronald Demaline and all the guys that worked for Cook Trucking.
