Dorothy Chasteen
July 16, 1930 – May 30, 2023

Mrs. Dorothy Frances Chasteen, 92 of Copper Creek, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Rockcastle Regional Hospital. She was born in Garrard County, KY on July 16, 1930 the daughter of Ida Mae Pingleton. She had been a life-long farmer and was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by her daughters: Brenda Hamilton of Berea, Laverne Winstead and husband Dale of Mt. Vernon, and Judy Parrott and husband David of Richmond; her grandchildren: Sam Hamilton and wife Dana, Dr. Michael Hamilton and wife Teresa and Scott Winstead, all of Mt. Vernon, Teresa Brumfield and husband Adam of Lexington, and Craig Parrott and wife Alicia of Solona Beach, CA; and her great grandchildren: Roy Scott Winstead, Tristan Winstead, August Winstead, Conner Winstead, Samantha Hamilton, J.D. Hamilton, Garrett Hamilton, Colin Hamilton, and Van Brumfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar “Toad” Chasteen; three brothers: Elmer Lee, John, Jr., and Paul Chasteen; a sister: Bertha Ellen Chasteen; a grandson: Jeff Winstead; a great grandson: Samuel Hamilton; and a son-in-law: James Hamilton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Chasteen will be conducted Saturday, June 3 at 11:00 AM at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home Chapel by Bros. Ralph Chasteen and Dennis Wilder. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 PM Friday.
