Mrs Billie Smith Obituary

Billie Jeanette Smith was born on February 4, 1930 in Whitley County, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of the late France Archer and Julia Pemberton Archer.  She was united in marriage on January 14, 1948 to her loving husband, Willis “Snuffy” Smith who preceded her in death.  She is survived by four children, Dr. Linda Floyd and husband Joe, Brenda Lawson and husband Tom, Tony Smith and wife Elissa all of London, Kentucky; and Beschell Smith-Horan and husband Ernie of Bellingham, Washington; seven grandchildren, Hope Bales (Stephen), Christie Smith, Ashley Garland (Mike), Tony Willis (Dawn), Charity Gilbert (Adam), Tenielle Faulkner (Wes), Lindsay Jones (Landon); twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Stewart (Ken) of Texas; a very special sister-in-law, Velma Jean Archer plus a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

Billie was also preceded in death by three siblings, Sherman Archer (Jean), Roy Archer (Wilma) and Thelma Brown (Warren).

Billie and Snuffy had a great love for the Tennessee Walking Horse and were very active in showing. She served as a president of the Kentucky Walking Horse Association Ladies Auxiliary. Billie was very active in her community as a member of the Red Hat Society and Eastern Star, as well as being named a Kentucky Colonel.  

Everyone who tasted Billie’s delicious banana pudding, peanut butter roll, and pull candy knew her talent for baking. She had an outgoing personality and enjoyed socializing, never meeting a stranger. Billie loved traveling and was always ready for a new cruise. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Phase 10 and Pokeno.  She was a sports enthusiast and always bled blue for her Kentucky Wildcats. 

Billie cherished her family at First Christian Church in London. She never failed to read her Bible each night and always enjoyed family Bible study. 

Billie lived primarily in London, Kentucky, however she also loved her home in Florida where she was lovingly known as “Diamond Bill” and “Ms. Bling”.  

Billie will be dearly missed and forever loved by all her family and friends. 

Billie Jeanette Smith went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 5, 2024 being 94 years, 2 months and 1 day of age. 

The funeral service for Billie Jeanette Smith will be conducted at 6 pm Tuesday at First Christian Church in London with Jim Ridings and Michael Hopkins officiating.

The family of Billie Jeanette Smith will receive friends beginning at 4 pm Tuesday until the funeral hour of 6 pm at First Christian Church.
