Wayne Altom obituary.

It is with great sadness that the children of Wayne Altom announce his passing last night, June 29, 2021 at the age of 86.  
 Born David "Wayne" Altom, he is the widower of Margaret Collins Altom, passed away June 29, 2021. He entered this world June 8, 1935 in Persia, Hawkins Co. TN to the late John Warren Clifford Altom and Edna Price Altom. 
 Dad was baptized in the Holston River in Hawkins Co. TN, below his grandfather's house and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Hawkins, TN. 
 He was retired from Bell South, owner of Way-Mar Tack Shop for 44 years, and became a Mason of Lodge #20 in 1965. He was a member of the Clark Co. Saddle Club and treasurer of Kentucky Walking Horse Association (KWHA) for 20 years. He also served as Kentucky Celebration Show Manager for 20 years, served on the board of KWHA for 25 years, and Bell South Pioneers Club. 
 Dad enjoyed to volunteer his time working with Clark Co. election voting over 20 yrs, worked Bingo many years and on the Clark Co. Fair Board for 40 years. 
 He is survived by his children, David (Sandra) Altom of Frankfort, KY, Dan (Tracy) Altom of Covington, KY and Margaret A. (Mickey) Welch of Winchester; grandchildren, Sean (Stephanie) Altom and Ben (Paulina) Larison; a great-grandchild, Olivia Larison. 
 Dad thrived on his friends and family, whether it was Thanksgiving dinner at home, the Clark County Fair or a Tennessee Walking Horse show, the local voting booth or the campground at Lion Country Safari in Florida.  He loved making friends and building relationships that lasted a lifetime. He was quick to tell a joke and share stories with his loved ones.  He will be missed by countless numbers of folks across the land whose lives he touched with his passion, generosity and humor.  If you ever met him you'd know what we mean.  
 Services will be on Wednesday, July 7, at 1:00 pm. at Rolan G.Taylor Funeral Home, with visitation from 11:00 am till the hour of service.
